Sophie Nixon, a painter and one of the organisers of the Sale Arts Trail said: “Sale and Trafford are home to an incredible number of professional artists working across many different disciplines. My road alone is home to Nick Roberson, one of only a handful of stone carvers in Europe, Gordon Cooke the Ceramicist, Ian Chapman the painter, and three other artists!  Because artists tend to work in their studios in isolation we wanted to create a local community and to show people just what incredible talent they have on their doorstep.

The internet has revolutionized the way that artists work and sell their pieces but experiencing art shouldn’t just be something that you do online.  We want the Sale Arts Trail to be an opportunity for those artists to come together to create a great event for people to see first hand, enjoy and discover more about the art and the artists in their community.

The three of us have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and involvement offered by the venues and artists we are working with on this project. The cafe’s and Sale Waterside got behind the event as soon as we put the idea in front of them and some of the artists and makers are making specific work for the show with a Sale theme.”
