So after almost 2-months of washouts, disappointing temperatures and blustery winds, we starting to feel a little cheated out of our [much longed for] summer.
So what better way to cheer ourselves up than with the annual investment in an unseasonably warm, extravagant winter coat?
The coat buy is the highlight of the season and in fashion circles making such a purchase while it’s still [occasionally] warm out, is nothing new. Ideally a new coat should be purchased in September to ensure availability of key pieces; outerwear is not replenished as much as other wardrobe essentials, but if you get it right, you’ll be wearing it all the way from October to February.
We’ve been doing our homework and once again the British High Street has come up trumps with a fantastic selection of affordable cover-ups that will see you through to Christmas and beyond.
As reported in the September issue, Seventies soul is still capturing our imaginations and sexy shearling is undoubtedly the cosiest winter coat trend on our list this year. Not brave enough to go full on SNUG-tastic, go subtle in some lining, it’s still a great way to stay warm on cold winter days!
Other key styles for women are the classic trench (basic is best!), puffers (from long length to duvet-worthy styles), faux fur (warm, fuzzy, fun or tactile), sports coats (spiced up ski jackets and retro gilets) and even quilted blanket coats.
Here are just a few of our favourites…
