Generously sponsored by The Court House Hotel, the evening was a dazzling success and, although the exact figure is yet to be finalised, the Mayor is delighted to announce that the evening has raised more than £6,000 for the Mayor’s Charities: Knutsford District Scouts and The Salvation Army.
With entertainment kindly sponsored by Fisher German, guests were treated to close-up magic from Carl Royle during a sparkling reception then serenaded by talented young Knutsford Academy student Josh Whittaker during a sumptuous 3-course dinner beautifully prepared by The Mere’s fabulous chefs.
Guests were regaled with gifts at the table thanks to On the Pulse of Perfumery, who provided perfume favours for everyone, and to Arnold Clark Car & Van Rental, who provided Scottish shortbread, pens and trolley keys.
The first goodies on offer were “Up Up & Away” helium balloons, each one containing a voucher for a fabulous night out, including vouchers from Knutsford restaurants: Gusto, New Moon Pub Co, Plough & Flail, Jack Rabbit’s, Belle Epoque, Freemasons Arms, Tap & Bottle and Cross Keys plus others further afield from Duke of Portland, The Fishpool Inn, Grosvenor Pulford Hotel and Bistro 1847, in addition to tickets from the Royal Exchange Theatre, Knutsford Musical Theatre Co, Liverpool Cathedral Concerts, Gawsworth Hall, Harlequin Theatre, Curzon Cinema and even a Tapas & Sangria Cruise from Lancashire Canal Cruises.
It was a busman’s holiday for Peter Ashburner, of Wright Marshall Fine Arts, who conducted a splendid auction and proved what a true professional he is! Guests also had a chance to bid on items in a silent auction, which included a bottle of House Commons’ wine signed by George Osborne, a full car service from Bob Farnon (Tyres) Ltd and a gold necklace with a pearl & diamond pendant from Gerald’s the Jewellers.
First prize in the raffle was “Dinner, bed & breakfast for two” courtesy of Cottons Hotel & Spa with the second prize winner being treated to a Serenity Spa Day at The Mere and third prize of a £50 voucher for The Nail Studio. More than 50 other prizes were given out including a voucher for Golfino, a luxury chocolate hamper from Mr Simm’s Olde Sweet Shoppe and 10 individual prizes of beautiful bare-root rose shrubs from Fryers’ Roses.
After dinner, guests danced ‘til they dropped to the energetic and fabulous Midnight Cats who delivered non-stop soul, disco, funk pop and party tunes to everyone’s delight.
