Abbey College Manchester has consolidated its senior leadership team (SLT) with the appointment of assistant principal, Chris Randell.
Chris joins the leading independent college, with nine years’ SLT experience in international schools, both in the Czech Republic and in the South of England.Chris Randell.
Prior to moving to Prague, he was a languages teacher and head of department at several large independent schools within the UK.
An avid runner, covering an outstanding 3033km in 2018, during the holidays Chris can usually be found somewhere in France or Switzerland walking, running, practising his French and enjoying the local produce. He also enjoys gardening, reading and films.
He told us: “Having worked with students from numerous countries, it is always enjoyable learning about different cultures, languages and life-experiences.
International students add so much to our community here and we can all learn lots from each other. As a linguist I believe it is very important to be able to communicate in various languages and, as a teacher, I believe students must be encouraged to follow their passions and choose the best subjects and most suitable pathway to enable them to achieve their goals.
We offer students different pathways at Abbey College, including A Levels, International Foundation Programme and Combined Studies and can individualise students’ timetables to suit them.
The flexibility is great and offers all students the chance to succeed and to get to where they want to be.”
Principal at Abbey College Manchester Liz Elam, said, “We are very excited about this new appointment. Chris will be a great asset to our senior leadership team, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, particularly with his international expertise.”
