Actor and writer, Valerie Bundy from Altrincham, has won a national screenwriting competition with Grazia magazine.
Grazia teamed up with BAFTA to find an exciting new talent in screenwriting and after a nationwide search, and hundreds of entries Valerie was picked as the winner.
The competition, which sought to find someone with the potential to be the next big thing in screenwriting, was judged by Rachel De-Laha, the award-winning screenwriter and playwright, Grazia’s Guy Pewsey and Harriet Kean.
Photo by Rebecca StephensonRachel started the script, called The Void, with entrants asked to continue on the story within 10 pages.
The judges were impressed by the originality and quality of the entries, but chose Valerie’s script for its sharp wit, interesting characters, and plot that left them wondering what would come next.
Valerie, who has been an actor and writer for more than 20 years said “I’m so excited that my script was chosen, it really is thrilling!”
As part of the prize Valerie will receive an exclusive mentoring meeting with an industry professional courtesy of BAFTA and access to BAFTA events.
She said “I’m going to the Screenwriting Lecture Series down in London in November which is super exciting! It’s their 10th Anniversary so it should be really special”
