The Midland Hotel in Manchester was the place to be recently when it hosted the Annual IoD North West, ‘Director of the Year’ Awards.

This event has grown significantly to now represent the pinnacle of leadership and business excellence in the region and one of the most popular Award categories is ‘Director of the Year – Family Business’, which was won by Alison Reuben of Bluebell Fitted Furniture in Sale.
This prestigious award, coming as Bluebell marks it’s 25th anniversary, is a fitting honour for a remarkable lady who has continually bucked the trend and succeeded against all odds in a traditionally male-dominated manufacturing industry.
Alison has been a director since she established the business 25 years ago and along with her husband and fellow director, Mike, she heads a talented team, which includes their three children.
Alison was nominated for the award by business consultant, Lily Newman of Morgan James Consulting.
Alison said: “I am so thrilled to win this prestigious award, especially when considering the wonderfully talented individuals who were also nominated – to be recognised in this way is such an honour.
There are few women leaders in manufacturing industry and by winning this award, I hope it will inspire and encourage the next generation of women and girls to believe they, too, can succeed within what has been a traditionally male domain.”
Alison will now progress to the National Grand Final in London on Thursday October 18th, 2018 at The Royal Horticultural Halls.
