We’ve analysed information from a variety of sources to bring you the key fashion trends you should know about this Autumn Winter 2014…
60s reboot
The swinging sixties were seen marching down the catwalks earlier this year, but outfits had a decidedly modern twist. Look out for: A-line shifts (wear now with sandals then graduate to low-heeled boots come Autumn), bold patterns, knee-high leather, mini (boxy) handbags, modern fresh fabrics.
Fashion fairytale
Designers looked to a whimsical and imaginative world for their inspiration this season. Look out for: capes, fur hoods, bold embellishments, sweeping sleeves. Think Game of Thrones meets Little Red Riding Hood.
Understated simplicity
The new mantra this season seems to be less is more with understatement, elegance and luxury playing a key role. Look out for: beautifully tailored trouser suits, strong cuts in simple shades, soft wool jumpers, and a lot of classic grey, navy, black and monochrome.
The dark side
Fashion finds its dark side this season and a darker mood shaped the majority of the Autumn Winter 14 shows. Look out for: buttery soft black leather, flashes of red, and inky languid silk. Welcome to the dark side.
Land girl
Military fashion is always a firm favourite for the winter months but this year it’s presence is felt through the application of colour. Look out for: army shades and then apply them as you would neutrals.
The colour
A new season means a fresh colour palette. Autumn Winter 2014 mixes dark and stormy shades of grey with bright blocks of colour from stand-out reds and pastel pink, through to every shade of blue.
The coat
It’s a wrap! Look out for: chunky faux-furs, full length blanket costs, patchwork designs, luxe puffas and anything shearling. September is the best time to start looking for your Autumn Winter coat, before the weather turns chilly and the best ones sell out!
