The evenings will soon be drawing in and after a blissful few months of turning our back on that [usually ever-present] extra layer, we’ll soon be looking for something stylish to drape over our shoulders.
Ideally a new Autumn Winter coat should be purchased in September to ensure availability of key pieces; outerwear is not replenished as much as other wardrobe essentials and with SS14 starting to hit shop floors as early as February, it pays to get in there early if you’ve got your eye on a particular piece or style.
From statement capes and volume, to bold colours and over-the-top style, just about anything goes with coats this season so it should be easy to wrap up in style. Here are just a few of our favourites.
Big is still beautiful this Autumn but opt for softer styles for a more laid-back look.
Channel Vivienne Westwood and put some punk into plaid this season (and nail 2 key tends in 1 at the same time) or for a more chic look, mix checks with soft whites and greys.
All body shapes get a feminine overall with this hourglass-inspired cut.
In the Pink
Pink (whether girlie, retro, romantic or rockabilly) is enjoying its moment in the sun and a coat in this super-flattering shade is considered a must-have item for Autumn Winter.
Easy to wear, cosy and comfortable, they not only give an impressive chic silhouette when teamed with skinny jeans, dresses and boots, but they provide instant vamp when worn over an evening dress.
