It is believed to be the first time that the top award in this category has been handed to a property outside of the South of England.

Now in its 35th year the WhatHouse? Awards is the nation’s premier event for the property industry. The accolade of Best Luxury House is awarded to the property that ‘has everything’ – a new build home that is simply the best in every aspect, with no expense spared on quality and luxury, but at the same time, offering value for money.

William Hague, the former MP, Foreign Secretary and Leader of the Conservative Party presented the Gold award to Huntsmere at a Gala Luncheon at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane recently.

The award-winning home, which was a private commission, was acknowledged for its architectural sympathy to the era and the relevance of it’s intelligent design to the requirements of present day living, as well as the preparations made for future technology.georgian-mansion-house-in-alderley-wins-gold-for-cheshire-developer-huntsmere-night-shot-002

Judges praised the property’s fine balance of grandeur and informality, alongside its practicality as a modern family home. Of note was the consideration given to creating ‘flow’ in the layout of the interior, specifically the series of double doors between the living, dining and day rooms which aligned for entertaining as well as ease of movement in everyday life. The innovative use of technology to transform the orangery into a cinema room at the swipe of a touchscreen was also commended.

Credit was given to Huntsmere’s use of local materials, which included natural stone from Preston, attractive natural pebbles under a glass floor in the wine store sourced from the Peak District and Burlington roof slate from the Lake District.

Says Chris Oakes, managing director of Huntsmere, “It is a huge honour to receive this recognition for our highly talented team as well as our client. Its an extremely competitive category at a highly coveted awards ceremony – some describe it as the ‘Oscars’ of the property industry.  We have received Silver and Bronze awards in previous years so to now have taken Gold makes us immensely proud.

“What’s more, we believe that it is the first time that the award has gone to a house outside of the Home Counties and Greater London. We’re delighted to be demonstrating the skill, talent, creativity and capability of the North West’s homebuilding industry at such a prestigious event,” he adds.
