College employees lace up for health challenge

Seventy employees from Macclesfield College are primed to hit the pavement for health from May 23rd.

They are joining a 265,000-strong contingent of workers worldwide in walking, cycling, running, swimming, skipping or even salsa-ing their way through the world’s largest corporate health initiative: the Global Corporate Challenge® (GCC).

Over 16 weeks they will team up and work together to boost their daily physical activity levels, both in the workplace and at home. Adopting more health-conscious lifestyle habits, College employees will strive to meet the equivalent of World Health Organisation’s (WHO) active lifestyle recommendation of 10,000 per steps day.

As well as making improvements to their overall physical health and emotional wellbeing, employees’ daily steps will also take them around the world on a virtual travel adventure designed to keep spirits high and maintain commitment and focus.
