World champion Ashley Terron returned to his former college to open the Ashley Terron Brickwork area, Gateway to Excellence at Warrington Collegiate in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the college and apprenticeships.
In a fitting tribute to Ashley, who is a strong advocate of the value of vocational qualifications and apprenticeships, the event took place at a packed open evening.
Ashley was presented with a silver trowel by principal, Paul Hafren, who described Ashley as an exceptional young man and an exceptional role model, saying, “Ashley’s story encourages and inspires young people to step outside their comfort zone and continuously strive for excellence in everything they do. Ashley is incredibly energetic in supporting students at Warrington Collegiate through master classes, and mentoring as well as attending open evening to talk to prospective students about the vocational route to university and career success.”
Ashley replied, “I’m proud and delighted to have a building named after me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my 3 years training at Warrington Collegiate so I’m delighted to be able to share my success with the college.”
Together with competition success and recognition by the Worshipful Company of Tylers and Bricklayers as a master craftsman, Ashley’s career has seen a meteoric rise.
