EMR to sponsor local community awards

With its head office just up the road, pledging its support for local charity Warrington Youth Club (WYC) more than made sense to international metal recycler EMR.

Little more than a year after its first fundraising event for the club and more than £16,000 in donations later, the company has confirmed it will be the main sponsor for the first ever Warrington Youth Awards.

The awards ceremony will be held at the Peace Centre, home of WYC, later this month and will take place to ‘celebrate and acknowledge children and young adults who have done something special.’

Ten awards will be handed out during the event with categories including learning achievement, supportive adult, learning journey and entrepreneur and all nominees will be collected from the local area.

“Many of our people have been very active in raising money for Warrington Youth Club over the last 12 months. We have had teams participate in 60 mile cycles in the howling winds and pouring rain, dive into skips of muddy water before tackling cargo nets and hay bale climbs and complete lengthy (not so fun) runs in the blazing heat of the summer sun.  We have had cake sales, raffles and auctions and to top it all several of our people now volunteer as mentors for the youth club’s ‘buddy up’ scheme. We are fully committed to WYC and the awards ceremony is a great way of reminding us why,” said EMR Group HR Manager Angela Jones.
