Granite worktops are top turn-on for house buyers

A compelling new study launched in April by Need A Property, revealed that two thirds of prospective home buyers would offer less than the asking price if a property featured decorative turn-offs – 38% would be put off altogether if a multitude of bad taste decor elements were present.

The study of 2,000 prospective buyers found that over half (52%) admitted cosmetic details matter more than practical ones, an indication that Brits putting their properties on the market should consider some degree of home makeover if they want a quick sale and close or over the asking price.

When it came to turn-ons, the results interestingly suggested that 27% would pay more than the asking price for a house that had a lot of turn-ons.

It’s no surprise then that the number one turn on was a fitted kitchen (36%) followed by granite worktops at number two (31%). The results confirm that the kitchen is without doubt the key room when it comes to the saleability of a property, and the room to focus on to add value.

Darren Dronfield, owner of Knutsford-based Cheshire Granite Worktops, understands first-hand the impact granite worktops can have on the look of a kitchen. He has fitted many over the years, from residential worktops for customers looking to enhance their kitchens and add value, to property investors wanting a durable work surface that won’t need replacing during the lifetime of the property tenancy. He commented, “One way to save money and breathe life into your kitchen is to partly upgrade rather than going for full scale remodelling.  It is surprising what can be achieved with new granite worktops, repainted doors, lighting and flooring”20131101_161205

Cheshire Granite Worktops have seen strong demand early 2014 for customers upgrading their kitchens by replacing laminate tops with granite and quartz worktops. “The transformation never fails to blow customers away and they are always delighted with the new look” Darren adds.

So, if you have been thinking about installing granite or quartz worktops for a while, now is a great time to splash-out, particularly as property prices have increased 6.75% in Knutsford alone since last year (Zoopla). Whatever your budget, it’s easy to update your kitchen without purchasing a whole new kitchen. Cheshire Granite Worktop customers Dave and Joyce from Knutsford had replacement worktops fitted recently. They commented “the whole process of worktop and tile removal, plumbing, electrics, and plastering, went like clockwork in just 5 days. That doesn’t happen very often and we were delighted with the efficiency and quality of work from the Cheshire Granite Worktops team. We are over the moon with our kitchen makeover, saving massively on the price of a new kitchen”20131101_161324
