Manchester High School pupils bring a little festive cheer to the elderly

The guests were treated to a lively afternoon of entertainment including musical and dance performances, bingo and a festive buffet as 15-year-old Orla Walshe from Macclesfield and 14-year-old Annabel Tragen from Cheadle spent time getting to know their visitors.

Annabel said: “We had a great time talking to our guests and finding out about their interests; it seems that a lot of them love Coronation Street and the Royal Variety Show.

It was also nice to hear about their memories of when they were younger.”

Orla added: “We have had fun putting this event together and realised how much our guests appreciate it. Everyone needs a little bit of festive cheer at this time of year!”

Eveline Spooner (85) and Jean Needs (84) from Mayes Court retirement housing were enjoying their afternoon. Eveline said: “We have had a wonderful time; the food was excellent and bingo is our favourite game. Thank you to everyone for this special treat.”
