The Mere Golf Resort and Spa’s ladies team has been successful in a 12-match knockout tournament to claim the Cheshire Shield.
After securing a place in the regional final, the Mere Ladies beat Sandiway Ladies at High Legh Park Golf Club to claim the East Cheshire Shield. The team then went on to gain further success against Carden Park Ladies at Sandiway Golf Club, to win the Cheshire Shield Final.
“I’m so proud of the performance from The Mere Ladies team and the support from all of the lady members. The team showed great commitment and determination throughout the competition and this is a tremendous result for us,” commented Verona Stott, Lady Captain.
“It’s been a year of memorable golfing moments at The Mere starting with the Manchester City Football Club Golf Day, followed by the Regional Open Qualifier in June, and The Mere’s chairman, Gary Corbett achieving his first hole in one on the course back in June,” said Mark Boler, co-owner at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa.
