Three generations of the same families competed against each other in some of the show classes at Mottram-St-Andrew’s 64th annual horticultural show recently writes Deborah Law.
Described by one participant as “An event that has brought the whole community together”, there really was something for everyone with entry classes for vegetables, cakes and pies, flowers and plants and arts and crafts.
It wasn’t difficult to imagine those huge tomatoes stuffed, cooked and covered in a lovely cheese sauce. The beautiful displays of mouth watering cakes and pies were a credit to the skills of their creators.
With my taste buds in overdrive, I had to keep reminding myself that it really was a matter of ‘look but don’t touch’ and I eventually settled for a cup of tea.
The smiling faces of exhibitors and visitors alike showed how much pleasure this show brings to the village.
