Staff recruitment has become too impersonal, leading to inappropriate placements and ideal candidates missing out on the right job, according to new secretarial specialist Lily Shippen.
Having worked in financial services and sales before gaining key experience with Robert Walters, a large player in recruitment with more than 30 years’ experience and 54 offices worldwide, Lily has struck out into high end secretarial recruitment in London and Manchester.

Nowadays, most agencies are global corporate concerns, dealing in volume but not always getting it right in terms of placing candidates in the right positions or, conversely, the staff that are the right fit for the job. HR and office managers frequently mention that the agencies they may have used 5 years ago have become too large to take time on getting it right and they often get passed to a different consultant every time they have a new requirement which means the consultant never truly understands the culture of that firm.
The receptionist, secretary or personal assistant are very often the public face of a company or the CEO. Getting the right person in that job could make or break a company. I think outside the box to get the right face at that desk.”
