Prestbury student Chloe Vell has been selected to represent Great Britain for Dressage in the European Championships Junior and Young Riders event being held in France (!st to 5th July).
Chloe, 17, who attends Withington Girls’ School’s sixth form, will be one of just four riders representing the country in her age group at the international competition, which is being held in Vidauban.
The WGS sixth-former has been riding since she was four years old and was first chosen to represent GB for dressage at the age of 12, a passion which has already earned her 45 caps and a place in the European Championships for the second time.
After a difficult season last year as a result of her horse Kaja being injured, Chloe made an impressive comeback during the qualifying rounds this Spring, consistently achieving high rankings on the leader board – and at the Nations Cup dressage international in Saumar in May was placed as best British rider overall in the Under 18s Junior Category.
Chloe, who hopes eventually to study medicine, said: “I’m thrilled to be selected to represent Great Britain as one of the top four U18 riders in the country at the European Championships. This will be my second Europeans on my horse Kaja. We competed together in the 2013 Championships, last year we were sadly out as he was injured, but we’re back on track now and I’m delighted that we’ve got through again. It is a massive achievement for me.”
