‘Ramp up the red’ to fight heart disease with the British Heart Foundation

Local BHF Team Hhope will be supporting the British Heart Foundation on 28th March by organising an exclusive ‘Ramp Up The Red’ Dinner and Spring Fashion Show in the heart of Manchester.

Did you know that coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer? It kills nearly one in six men and more than one in ten women and is responsible for almost 74,000 deaths in the UK each year, an average of 200 people each day. There are currently 2.3 million people in the UK living with coronary heart disease.

The ‘Ramp Up the Red’ Dinner and Fashion Show is a charity event which will rise vital funds for Heart Disease Sufferers and to support research in this field. It will take place on Friday 28th March from 7pm at the Radisson BLU Edwardian hotel in Manchester. Guests will enjoy a two course dinner, fashion show, after party and entertainment.

The event will be red, edgy, urban and sophisticated showcasing Manchester’s finest creative talent (see image: right) including: Run&Fell by Naomi Jackson, Pixie Childrenswear Boutique in Hale Cheshire, and Sidnie Co Couture by Sidnie Pee. The entertainment will comprise Maria Stutt of Cloud Aerial Arts, Taylor Jackson & Band, and the AMC Gospel Choir directed by Audrey Mattis.

‘Ramp Up the Red’ is a collaborative event and ordinary people have donated their time and skills to help make it happen: choreography has been provided by Joanne Moven; photography by Lauren Campbell; hair styling by Too Funky Hair and Judith Hughes; and make-up by Samantha Parker, Rebecca Tupman, Kirsty Watson and Kauser Irfan Mua.

All models taking part in the Fashion Show are everyday people who either suffer from some form of heart disease or who have personally experienced the loss of loved ones.

Michelle White (image, far right), BHF Women’s Room Ambassador and Team Hhope Fundraising Manager said: “I myself am a heart survivor, having had four open heart surgeries, two strokes and ongoing complications, and my team have experienced the loss of  family members to heart disease or have loved ones suffering with heart illness. We hope to raise a considerable amount for the BHF which will help them fund the research that is so urgently needed to fight heart disease. It’s been incredibly easy to co-ordinate and promises to be fun for all involved.”

Louise Parkes, Fundraising Director at the BHF, said: “Ramp up the Red is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to think about how many lives are affected by heart disease. By organising a fundraising event in February, you will be helping us to raise much-needed funds in order to fight heart disease. The BHF is the biggest funder of life-saving heart research in the UK to help everybody who suffers from a heart problem. This research has already made medical history but funds are urgently needed to fund further research.

She added: “We offer our heartfelt thanks to Team Hhope for so generously dedicating their time and energy to help us continue our fight for every heartbeat.”

The nation-wide ‘Ramp up the Red’ campaign aims to help fight coronary heart disease, the UK’s single biggest killer. For more information about the Manchester Dinner & Spring Fashion Show and to buy tickets, visit http://rampupthered.eventbrite.com/.
