Members of Cheshire’s Agricultural Society had a royal welcome recently when HRH The Princess Royal took time out of her busy schedule to chair their Annual General Meeting at Quarry Bank Mill.
The Princess, well known for her love of equestrian sports, was the President of last year’s very successful Cheshire Show and kindly attended the Society’s Annual General Meeting at the end of February after officially visiting BAE Radway Green.
Over 100 members of the Society attended the meeting where they celebrated the Society’s achievements over the last 12 months notably the 2013 Cheshire County Show having the highest attendance in its history
Key appointments were also made Sir William Bromley Davenport was once again appointed as Patron, with Peter Ford as the 2014 President, Mrs Elizabeth Forster as the 2014 Patroness taking over from Chris Newton.
Tony Garnett, Chairman of Cheshire Agricultural Society and President of the National Farmers Union said, “All members of the Society are extremely grateful to HRH The Princess Royal for taking the time to Chair our AGM.
“It was a great honour to welcome her to our meeting and also gave us all another opportunity to thank her for being the President of last year’s very successful Cheshire Show and present her with a thank you gift from all members.
“I would also like to welcome Peter Ford and Elizabeth Forster in to their new roles and look forward to another very successful Show this year.”
