The RSPB has named Macclesfield Wildlife Explorers Group as its ‘Club of the Year’. This annual award is presented by the RSPB to celebrate the achievements of its youth groups.

Macclesfield Wildlife Explorers impressed RSPB judges with its wide range of activities and events over the past year, which included creating a wildlife area at a farm in Marton; fundraising for the northern rockhopper penguin appeal, and helping to prepare for the arrival of the Springwatch team at RSPB Ynys Hir in Wales.
The group won a telescope, a selection of reference books, CDs and goody bags.
Tina Hanak, leader of the group said: “We are surprised but delighted to have won the award and are planning to celebrate with a big party. Our young members love getting involved with nature conservation and are committed to helping our threatened wildlife. It is a privilege to work with them.”
