Around 600 walkers came together to remember their loved ones and raise money for East Cheshire Hospice at the recent Starlight Walk and, together, they have pledged more than £50,000 to support the hospice’s work.
Events organiser Camilla Crockett said: “We were truly overwhelmed by the support we received on the night, and it was wonderful to be joined by so many families this year.
“This is what the Starlight Walk is all about – families and friends, young and old, coming together to enjoy a fantastic night whilst helping to raise vital funds for East Cheshire Hospice.”
She said more than 100 volunteers helped in the lead up to and at the event helping to ensure everything ran smoothly “Our fundraisers really are the most loyal, dedicated and committed group of people and we are so grateful for all of their continued support.
“People came together from across our community to remember and celebrate the lives of their loved ones,” said Camilla.
There was a really vibrant atmosphere on the night, with a lovely combination of celebration and reflection. The candles people placed along the route looked magical, and many people were able to take a moment and reflect whilst throwing their memory pebble into the lake.”
“We really hope everyone enjoyed this year’s Starlight Walk, with the new route, venue and times, and the additional activities, refreshments and entertainment. We are always looking to enhance and improve our events so please let us know if you have any suggestions or fill in our online survey.”
Camilla urged participants to return sponsorship money to the hospice and cheques payable to East Cheshire Hospice can be sent directly to: Fundraising, Millbank Drive, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK10 3DR.
Alternatively donations can be made online at www.eastcheshirehospice.org.uk or dropped off directly at the hospice.
