Prestbury Tennis Club is planning to rebuild its ageing clubhouse to bring it in line with its modern playing facilities.
Led by Ian Scott, a small enthusiastic group has put a plan together for the complete rebuilding of the clubhouse. The first step was taken at a special general meeting in January when it was unanimously agreed to add a voluntary levy on senior membership subscriptions for the next 5- years.
“Our dream is to raise enough funds within the next 5-years to rebuild the clubhouse completely,” said Ian. “This is a huge task, and we are just starting on the journey. Getting the members to agree to a voluntary levy, particularly in the current climate, is a great step and demonstrates people’s commitment to wanting the best tennis facilities for Prestbury.
“We are looking at other ways to raise funds, including grants and sponsorship and are particularly interested in talking to local businesses.”
Prestbury Tennis club is recognised as having some of the best playing facilities inCheshire.
Three new modern clay court surfaces and 5 Astro surfaces mean that playing tennis is now an all year round sport for members.
However, the clubhouse is far from modern and despite recent efforts to cosmetically improve it, the time has come to look at the longer-term future of the building.
Events planned for March include a golf day on 22 March and a mini beer festival on 30 March.
