Tennis players put mind and body into it

New chairman of Prestbury Tennis Club, Sian Reading, is determined to have club members fit in both mind and body this season.

Last month she arranged for a team of sports physiotherapists to attend the club on three occasions to provide free physiotherapy for players. This month it will be the turn of sports psychologist, Martin Perry. On 5 February, he will be explaining the art of ‘Winning on a Bad Day’.

“The club is thriving and even through the bad weather of last summer we were still recruiting new members. I felt we should build on this momentum and introduce a few innovations such as the physiotherapy and sports psychology. Last month we had up to 15 members turning-up for each of the physio sessions,” said Sian who lives in Tytherington.

Price for the talk by the sports psychologist this month is £5 for members and £3 for juniors (pay on the door). “Depending on numbers, we may have a few places available for non-members,” she said.
