The whole world’s a stage

As part of the Hilden project, performing arts lecturer at Warrington Collegiate, Katie Bonney, travelled to the Wilhelm Fabry Realschule inHildento deliver a 3 day drama workshop to German students.

Language is no barrier in drama as the students enthusiastically joined in the workshop, enjoying a taste of what their English contemporaries study inWarrington.

Katie received rave reviews from both the students and their teachers, for transforming the group from quiet and shy young people to a dynamic, energetic group, full of ideas for their contribution to the project. “I had a fantastic time. Young people only study drama inGermanyafter the age of 14 if they go to a specialist arts college. Despite not studying drama the youngsters I worked with were very creative in their interpretation of themes in the workshop.

They will be coming over later in the year to showcase their dramatic piece and work collaboratively with students studying performing arts and creative media production at Warrington Collegiate. Together with other partners in the project the students will be creating a smartphone app which will allow people to access a series of short films using QR codes celebrating arts, history and culture in Great Britain and Germany.”
