Macclesfield’s Gemma Garton was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in February 2014. She was treated at The Christie Hospital and, in July of that year, Gemma was given the all clear to resume her life as normal.

This included returning to work as a project manager at Manchester Airport Group and pursuing her hobbies including playing Hockey for Alderley Edge; riding race horses in point to point steeplechases and running, with a target being the Wilmslow Half Marathon.
One of Gemma’s great achievements to date is winning on her return to race riding in a three mile steeplechase at the South Wold point to point, which was held at the Duke of Yarborough’s magnificent estate Brocklesby Park.
The race that she won, on her horse Kiestown Chief, is a qualifier for a national final to be held at Knutsford Races on 17 May (www.knutsfordraces.co.uk ).
Gemma has decided that she will raise money for the cancer charities: Cancer Research UK and The Christie Hospital. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/teamGG
